The development of a Community Diagnostic Centre will provide patients with greater access to diagnostic services in an appropriate location closer to home. This could provide a range of services in your GP practice, Community Hospital or at a new location away from our large hospital sites.

You can read more about this national programme in the Important Links to the right of the page.

As part of a national initiative, we want to develop Community Diagnostic Centres (CDCs) in Gloucestershire. The aims of a CDC is to:

  • Deliver a more personalised diagnostic experience for patients;
  • Improve health outcomes by reaching earlier, faster and more accurate diagnoses of health conditions;
  • Increase capacity by investing in new facilities and equipment;
  • Improve efficiency through streamlining processes, reducing unnecessary steps or tests and avoiding duplication;
  • Ensure consistency in referral, access, uptake, experience and outcomes of diagnostic services;
  • Support integration of care across GP, community and hospital services;
  • Improve staff development, training, satisfaction and retention of staff.

We are currently reviewing access to a wide range of diagnostic services, such as scans and x-rays, in Gloucestershire. We want to understand your experience of using these services and welcome your views on priorities and new ways of working in the future.

We have been collecting feedback from patients who have recently accessed diagnostic services, as well as well as people who might need to use the services in the future. This feedback is being used to inform future planning for service improvement and the development of a Community Diagnostic Hub. The Output of Engagement report is available via the links on the right of the page.
