Fit for the Future is part of the One Gloucestershire vision, focussing on the medium and long term future of specialist hospital services at Cheltenham General Hospital and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital

Planned General Surgery

The first phase of the Fit for the Future (FFTF) programme last year included public consultation proposals to change the way services were organised across the county. As a result of the Consultation, it was decided that further work should be done to define a new option for Planned General Surgery.

We are therefore considering the best locations for carrying out surgical operations for people who require gall bladder and weight loss surgery. We have heard about your experiences of the current services, including how these may have changed as a result of the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We have also heard from current patients of the service as well as people who might need to use the services in the future. The engagement closed on Monday 20 September 2021.
